I presented a copy of my book, UAE — The Opportunity Economy, to Mr. Moustafa as a personal gesture of respect for the professionals whose work supports people, businesses and the development of the United Arab Emirates.
Mr. Moustafa is the person pictured receiving the book. The legal office associated with this presentation is Mohammad Shehab Alfarsi Advocates & Legal Consultants, owned by Mohammad Shehab.
For me, offering this book carries a clear meaning: appreciation for the people who contribute their knowledge, judgement and professional responsibility to the country in which they work. It is also a way of placing the ideas behind my writing into the hands of people engaged with the practical realities of the UAE.
Respect for the people behind a country's progress
A country's development takes shape through daily work: agreements prepared carefully, responsibilities understood, businesses organised properly and problems addressed with competence. These contributions can be quiet. Their importance becomes visible when a decision carries consequences for a family, a company or an investment.
My decision to offer the book to Mr. Moustafa came from that perspective. It was an expression of respect for the people who help others navigate the UAE and contribute through their professional work. The photograph accompanying this article records the presentation of the book.
Recognition has greater meaning when it is connected to the work people actually do. In the context of the UAE, I value the relationship between ambition and responsibility: the desire to build something, together with the discipline to understand the environment in which it must operate.
The legal profession and the foundations of confidence
Legal knowledge plays a practical role in that environment. Before a company can grow confidently, its founders need to understand the commitments they make. Before a property decision becomes a sound commitment, the parties need clarity about documents, rights and obligations. When difficulties arise, people need an informed path through the relevant procedures.
On its official website, Mohammad Shehab Alfarsi Advocates & Legal Consultants describes services covering corporate and commercial matters, dispute resolution, litigation and regulatory compliance. The firm's published information provides the professional context for this article; the meaning of the gift is my own personal account.
These areas connect with a central theme of my UAE writing: opportunity becomes more useful when people understand the structures that support it. Clear agreements and informed decisions give ambition a stronger foundation. Professional expertise contributes to that foundation by helping people recognise the significance of the commitments in front of them.
Why I chose UAE — The Opportunity Economy
I chose this book because it represents my sustained interest in understanding the Emirates through business, work, investment and the decisions involved in building a future here. Its purpose within my wider writing is to encourage serious engagement with the country and the possibilities it offers.
An opportunity is a starting point. Turning it into a durable outcome requires attention, preparation and a willingness to learn. That relationship between possibility and responsibility is what gives the book its relevance to the gesture. Offering it is a way of sharing the intellectual work behind my interest in the UAE with someone working within its professional environment.
A physical book also represents a commitment of time: time spent developing ideas and time invited from the reader. Giving it personally is therefore a meaningful act for an author. It connects the work on the page with a real person and a professional context beyond the writing itself.
A personal activity within my wider UAE work
This presentation forms part of my activity as an author engaged with the Emirates. Through my books and CYUAE, I continue to examine the connection between knowledge, practical decisions and the country’s development. Personal encounters give that work a human dimension while the publication provides a place to develop the ideas with greater depth.
My intention is to contribute through writing that helps readers take the UAE seriously: to explore its possibilities, understand the questions behind consequential decisions and recognise the value of competent professional work. Respect for the country includes respect for the people who help others participate in its life and economy with greater understanding.
I offer my appreciation to Mr. Moustafa for receiving the book. The gesture expresses a simple conviction that guides this part of my activity: knowledge deserves to circulate among people who use their expertise to build, support and contribute.
