A convincing job offer combines opportunity with urgency. That combination can make a candidate focus on the salary while overlooking the identity of the employer, the permit route or a request for payment. A genuine career decision needs a verifiable employment process as well as an attractive description of the role.

This guide concerns offers within the UAE's federal private-sector employment framework. A person living in Sharjah may work under that framework, but a government role or another employment jurisdiction requires its own checks. The purpose is to verify an offer before money, travel or resignation makes the decision harder to reverse. Sources were checked on 4 November 2026.

Separate the offer, permit and residence stages

The UAE Government's fraud-prevention guidance directs candidates to check a MOHRE offer using its reference through the ministry's enquiry service. It also states that a visit or tourist visa does not authorise employment and that the employer bears recruitment expenses under the labour framework.[1]

Those points should be examined separately. An offer describes proposed employment. A work permit concerns authority to perform the work. Immigration permission concerns the person's lawful entry or stay. A recruiter who describes all three as one document is making the process less clear at the moment it needs to become more precise.

Ask who the legal employer will be, which authority regulates the relationship and which permit is being requested. An office address in a particular emirate does not answer every jurisdictional question. If the answer changes during recruitment, reconcile the change before proceeding.

Verify through a channel you reach independently

Do not use only the telephone number or website supplied in an unsolicited message. Locate the employer's official public presence independently, contact it through a published channel and ask whether the named recruiter is authorised to make the offer. The aim is to confirm the relationship between the person communicating and the legal employer.

For MOHRE records, the official offer-and-contract enquiry page provides service selections and identity fields, including transaction and passport information.[2] Enter personal data only on the genuine official service. A screenshot of an alleged verification is less useful than a record the candidate can check through the proper channel.

Keep the offer reference, verification date and any response. If the enquiry does not produce a clear match, ask the employer or ministry to explain the discrepancy. A spelling difference, a wrong reference and an invented offer are different problems; the evidence should establish which one exists.

Read the economic offer as a set of commitments

A headline monthly figure does not explain the whole relationship. Identify the basic wage and other components, working location, role, start arrangements and anything stated about accommodation, transport or variable compensation. Clarify what is fixed, conditional or discretionary.

Area Question to resolve Evidence to keep
Legal employer Which entity is making the offer? Legal name and independently verified contact
Role and location What work is expected and where? Written job description and agreed location
Compensation Which amounts are fixed or conditional? Offer breakdown and applicable conditions
Permit route Which authority and application apply? Official references and status records
Requested payments What is being requested, by whom and why? Invoice or written demand, without assuming it is lawful

Do not treat the table as a replacement for the official contract. It is a reading tool that helps the candidate identify questions before signing. A clear offer should make those questions easier to answer rather than generate a succession of new verbal promises.

Challenge recruitment-cost demands with the correct rule

Article 6 of the federal labour law prohibits an employer from charging a worker recruitment and employment fees or costs, directly or indirectly. It also requires the relevant work permission and regulates recruitment or mediation activity through ministry licensing.[3]

A demand labelled as a refundable deposit, activation charge or guaranteed placement fee should therefore be examined for its substance, not accepted because of the label. Ask for a written explanation and obtain guidance from the responsible authority before paying. This article does not decide the legality of every possible personal expense from a short payment message.

Pressure is an important behavioural signal. If the candidate is told that verification will destroy the opportunity, the process is asking for commitment before evidence. A legitimate deadline can be explained and documented. Secrecy and urgency should not replace the authority's procedure.

Compare the signed offer with the proposed contract

The government's employment-process guidance explains that the contract should be based on the signed offer and describes the need to understand the rights and obligations before signing.[4] Compare documents line by line rather than assuming a familiar employer name makes the content identical.

A hypothetical candidate accepts a role described as office-based in Sharjah with a stated fixed compensation package. A later document changes the work location and makes part of the amount dependent on targets. The useful response is to identify the changed clauses and ask whether they reflect an agreed amendment. It is not enough to be told that the paperwork is standard.

Retain the versions. A comparison file should show the original offer, later contract, questions raised and written clarification. If agreement is reached, make sure the formal record reflects it. An accurate final document is more useful than a collection of reassuring messages that contradict the signed terms.

Protect identity documents during the process

Recruitment requires identity information, but candidates should still ask who needs it and through which secure channel. Sending the same passport copy to several unknown intermediaries increases exposure without necessarily moving an application forward.

Keep a log of the organisation receiving documents, the purpose and the date. Where possible, use the employer's verified process or the authority's own service. Do not disclose UAE PASS credentials or approve an unexplained authentication request because someone says it is necessary to keep an interview slot.

Verification should be proportionate. The candidate needs enough information to establish the employer and process; the employer needs the records required for the actual application. Neither side benefits from collecting unrelated personal material without a clear purpose.

Make travel and resignation decisions in the right sequence

An attractive offer is not a reason to abandon an existing job, surrender housing or purchase non-refundable travel before the necessary stages are understood. Establish what has been issued, what remains conditional and who is responsible for the next action.

Create a short dependency plan: document review, official verification, permit status, travel arrangements, accommodation and lawful commencement of work. Put a real decision point beside each commitment. A plan that assumes everything happens simultaneously can turn a small administrative delay into a serious household cash problem.

For a candidate already in the UAE, the presence of a valid residence record does not by itself answer whether they may begin the new role. Obtain the correct employment guidance for the relationship and status. Avoid a trial shift or unpaid start being used to bypass the permit question.

Questions candidates should ask directly

Does a professional email address prove the offer is genuine?

It is one piece of context. Independently confirm the employer, representative and official employment reference. A plausible appearance is not the same as a verified process.

Is a tourist visa enough while the company finishes paperwork?

The government's fraud guidance says it does not authorise work.[1] Ask the authority about the correct route rather than relying on an informal promise that the documents will be fixed later.

What if the offer and contract differ?

Identify the exact clauses, obtain a written explanation and resolve the formal record before treating the changed terms as agreed. Seek guidance about the actual circumstances if a dispute remains.

What is the strongest practical protection?

Maintain a decision file that connects the legal employer, offer, official verification, permit and signed terms. The discipline is to commit in proportion to evidence, while keeping the opportunity open long enough to examine it properly.
